<Extricated from the email newsletter of May 2002>

So it's been another month that has simply flown by. Brief recap of events this month.

I was asked to contribute a cover version of one of Frankie Miller's unreleased songs to be considered for inclusion on the Frankie Miller Tribute album- (www.frankie-miller.com) Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed...But Definitely Blues. It is intended to be a 3 CD album, and the Something Borrowed part of it is a CD packed with unsigned bands.

I took up the offer and did a bizarre version of Waltzing Away. It was recorded in my usual haunt of Grant's Kitchen. I did away with my usual manic strumming and did a laid-back guitar line, some sexy vocals and to top it off, added some drums as percussion. Technically this shouldn't work, however it sounds way cool and I hope it makes the final cut.

Some of the locals among you may have noticed Go North in Aberdeen recently. I attended much of this including the songwriter's workshop, which was heaps of fun. It was quite weird trying to write a song with two other people there, especially when the songs I write tend to be fairly emotional. We came up with a pretty respectable result however, and I may end up working with at least one of my cohorts from that day.

The rest of Go North was a drunken haze! There were forums on the industry followed by much drinking and chatting, and I saw heaps of cool performers. All in all it was a roaring success.

One of the people I met there came from a company called Wild Biscuit, who among other things organise a festival in a place called Lochgilphead. I will be playing it this year (Sat 22nd June).

Plans to design and produce a "Jo" T-shirt are well under way...

Also this month, I played an insane gig in Triple Kirks. The attendance was stunning, even after the awful 6 year old picture the local paper used to advertise the event! Thank you to all who came down and clapped so hard!

The gig was filmed for later release but unfortunately the lighting didn't work out so we just have a bunch of grainy footage. Some of it is ok though and I will put some up here and on the Yahoo Group when I get a minute.

For those of you who would like to hear something less acoustic- listen up. I am planning to record and release a single at the end of summer. The tracks have not been chosen and people are more than welcome to suggest their favourite for consideration.

Anyway, that's it for this missive.

Take care and Peace Out
