<Extricated from the email newsletter of August 2006>

Hi folks, hope all is well with everyone.

August has been a bit of a fun month! Taunton with Midge was as usual a great experience. I love playing theatres. There is a certain ambience you just don't get anywhere else. I took the opportunity to go camping in Barnstaple while i was in the area, and so on top of the gig, I managed a bit of swimming in the sea and visited Lynton and Lynmouth, and Exmoor zoo where I got to see my favourite animals, meerkats.

The next week or so was taken up with working on soundtrack music for possible inclusion in a documentary, and working on arrangements for Overtaking on a Bend. It's proving difficult, as my patience with machines is rather thin.

The Tunnels gig was quiet, and homecoming gigs are always a bit weird for me. I did managed to royally mess up So What, by starting on the wrong fret and not noticing til I got to the verse. Very painful but it seemed to get a giggle.

I managed to meet up with loads of pals I haven't seen in ages, which was great but made me feel a little homesick!

Then it was off to Haddington! Accommodation was camping facilities on a football pitch, with a football pitch's distance to the nearest loo. Not so good, but an experience anyway, especially coming back from the showers to find a game going on right next to my tent! I got to meet up with lots of old pals, which was great. My gigs were interestig to say the least, the first being at the Plough. I got interrupted mid song by some old bloke (the gig was outdoors) who demanded I turn the PA off in no uncertain terms. As the manager was not around at the time, I had to deal with him myself, and I was so taken aback by it (plus the usual nerves of playing a new place) I burst into tears and had to do the rest of the set with a very wet face. Rather embarrassing and I apologise for the probably very squeaky voice the rest of the set was sung in!

The next gig was 10 mins later at the Tyneside. I managed to recover with the help of a few tequilas and really enjoyed the gig.

I then went off to help with the Fish "Weakest Link" show at the Town Hall, had a few drinks and went to sleep.

So, now that August is done and dusted I am spending my time getting quite nervous about upcoming nuptuals and trying to figure out how to get my studio to give me a click track...

Oh and a special Hi to Gil who saw me at the airport!

See you around...
Jo
