<Extricated from the email newsletter of April 2005>
Well folks, finally I am back online. I've been away for a few days shooting
a music video for Dangerous Ground, as part of my cousin's course that she is
doing. It was great fun, and if I am not too horrified by the sight of me trying
to act, it may well be available to the general public in the coming months.
They have still to edit it and Carolyn's team, I am sure, will do a sterling
job.
We shot at various locations round West Wycombe and spent the first day on top
of the Hellfire Caves, which was great for me as I have been dying to visit
them ever since I saw them on Most Haunted. We didn't actually film in the caves
themselves, but on top of them, at the mausoleum. I had to sing DG over and over
and over again, while curious bystanders watched, which was an experience in
itself! Hopefully some of them will come to a gig sometime!
I had to do a lot of walking and singing, which sounds easy, but is actually
quite tough when you have to mime correctly and look where you're going, and
not laugh at the film crew trying to keep the camera steady while on the move...
The next day was based on the streets (street) of West Wycombe, and there was
a very mad moment where I was singing directly to camera. The sun had come out
and was shining right in my eye, causing it to tear up as I sang one of the verses.
No one said cut so I just kept going, as the tear trickled down my cheek and
my nose started running...I don't know if they'll keep it in, but it was very
Sinead O' Connor from "Nothing Compares to You". Except a lot less
graceful and a lot more sniffly...
When we looked at that scene later on, it looks like I am really upset!
The last day was spent filming inside, in Carolyn's room. I'm sitting on the
bed playing guitar and singing, which is even more difficult to do when you're
trying to get it exactly the same as the cd...
Ah well, I did my best and it's up to them to make it all better!
Now the filming's done I am concentrating on writing new material for the "Plugged" album,
working title "Overtaking on a Bend".
In the meantime I will be releasing the Live at the Moorings Official Bootleg
on June 16th. The launch will (hopefully) be held at the Moorings, funnily enough,
on June 16th. Still to be confirmed.
I'll be in Aberdeen for a few days, as the Keith Chaos Festival is on the 18th
so am hoping to catch up with everyone while I'm there.
Preorders welcome, just drop me a line and I'll add you to the list.
As for Mad May, you may have noticed the gig list for May is very hectic,
I will be all over the place in England so make your way to a gig! And if you
do come along, feel free to come up and say hi, I will be the drinking one by
my merchandise looking a bit like the support act for Midge Ure...
In other news, my friends Baby Karma will be performing at The Moorings in
Aberdeen on the 7th of May, so go along and have some fun!
That's all for now...
